Five for Friday.....March 18, 2016

Spring break is already coming to a close.  It went too fast!

I did some homework this week for school, but overall
my week was a vacation.

Now it is time to join Doodle Bugs Teaching for a party!

ONE

I sorted some boxes out, found some old stuff. Some of it I was so happy to see again and some of it...well I wondered why I had kept it all these years! If I was a quilter some of these tee shirts would make  fine ones for each one of my children. Maybe I should take the summer off and learn how to quilt!

This little guy belonged to my oldest child and was passed down to the next two. My youngest is the most sentimental about him and she took him for
safekeeping.

.......a few shirts from different parts of life.....a long gone school....a concert...a trip to the fair
MEMORIES

TWO

According to cartoonist Chad Carpenter Monday was
"Wear a hat made of pancakes day"

I didn't.
But it is fun to see what will show up on his calendars!

THREE

We had snow for Spring Break and visitors.

They blend in so well!

FOUR

St. Patrick's Day!
Excellent day of grandchildren, Irish Coffee and Darby O'Gill and the Little People. I love that movie. Sean Connery was so young and very handsome of course.

by the way, Irish Coffee is not Weight Watchers friendly,,,oh well

FIVE

Spring break is almost over.

Have a good week, I will try to do the same.

Later,

Paula

Five for Friday..April 18, 2014

Linking with Doodle Bugs Teaching for another Friday....

ONE

This week we made an Easter bunny door hanger and it was very cute, but I didn't take a picture, so you'll just have to take my word for it!

TWO

The weather continues to improve! Today was beautiful, sunny with temps in the 40's.....the moose still mosey through the yard. (or is that "mooooo"sey? sorry it's been a long week)

THREE - FOUR

The highlight of our week was cooking day! We have decided to have one every week until the last day of school, it is the only time I have their full attention!
This week's recipe was....

A recipe booklet was prepared ahead of time, they were very excited about the book and I placed it in our classroom library  afterwards.

Recommend that you help hold the bowl

Some kids needed help pushing the cutter through the apple, I set the cutter before allowing them to start and stayed right on top of them,  Small apples were used so each student cut their own apple.

A couple of our friends could not chew the apples and they enjoyed eating a spoonful of applesauce with the dip just as much.

Quiet munching for a short time...it was heavenly!

I told the boys..."Now you know being a cook isn't for wimps, you need to be strong, read and follow directions and know your math!"
They ask me "What are we going to make next week?!?"

FIVE

I am rereading Stephen King's
On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft

and highly recommend it. Before he became a world renowned author, he was an English teacher and what he says about that time in his life is something we can relate to....
"I liked my coworkers and loved the kids....but by most Friday afternoons I felt as if I'd spent the week with jumper cables clamped to my brain."

My countdown has began...I received notification that I will be teaching summer school again this year.....next week is Special Olympics...daylight is increasing...HOWEVER I have a day off Monday!
WOOOO!
Until next week,
Paula

Five for Friday....January 10, 2014

Finally Friday! This was our first week back after the holiday break and it felt very very long.
I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for her weekly party.

Here we go.....

1. This week was my birthday. I'm not all that excited about my birthday but it beats the alternative. I was reminded that I have lots of family and friends in my life and I feel honored.

a couple of my gifts..

2. My quest to reduce stress in my life has begun! One of the actions I'm doing is cutting down my hours at school. Our contract time to leave is 4:15 pm (ha!), I usually leave somewhere in the neighborhood of 5:30-6:00, so my goal is 4:30. I left at that time one day this week (my birthday).

a lonely car when the owner is the last one leaving!

3. I began to teach a small group learning letters and sounds. I really enjoy them! We are using the Zoo Phonics program which is one of my favorites.

4.The sledding hill is in full swing!

5.  The moose are back hanging around the yard!

Have a great week!
